Darm activ^* is a water-soluble, non-bulking dietary fiber product containing inulin, lactulose, and lactic acid bacteria to increase bowel movement frequency^* and thereby support healthy bowel function.

What does Darm activ* do?

The inulin contained in Darm activ* is a natural substance derived from chicory (Cichorium intybus) and serves as a typical reserve substance for the plant. Chicory varieties, such as endive or radicchio, contain a particularly high proportion of inulin. For humans, inulin is a dietary fiber, as it cannot be digested in the small intestine. It is only in the large intestine that it can be broken down by the bacteria of the healthy gut flora.

There, it primarily serves as food for bifidobacteria and lactobacilli. The beneficial metabolic products produced by intestinal bacteria during the breakdown of inulin stimulate bowel movements, increase stool frequency, and thus naturally support normal bowel movements.* Consuming inulin therefore contributes to normal bowel function.

What does “regular bowel movements” mean?

Regular bowel movements refer to consistent bowel movements. The frequency of bowel movements can vary from person to person, with two times a day to three times a week considered normal. Irregular bowel movements with hard and excessively dry stools are referred to as constipation. This can be accompanied by straining and pain during bowel movements, as well as other symptoms.

Often, there is a feeling that the bowel has not been completely emptied. To maintain regular bowel movements, it is helpful to exercise regularly and drink enough fluids. A diet rich in fiber is also important. Processed foods often contain too much fat and sugar. This slows down the digestive process and causes too much fluid to be absorbed from the stool. Usage

Recommended intake:
Darm activ* is a soluble, non-swelling supplement that can be stirred into cold beverages (e.g., a glass of still water) or soft, cold foods.

Due to its microbiological mechanism of action, the intake of Darm activ* should be increased gradually. Start with one measuring spoon (approx. 7 g) and increase the daily amount individually, e.g., one spoonful more each week, until you feel the optimal effect. The recommended daily dose is 3 level measuring spoons (= 21 g), which you should add to 200 ml of a liquid of your choice or 200 g of soft food and stir well until the powder has dissolved. Increasing the dose too quickly could lead to bloating, as the colon flora has not yet adapted to Darm activ*.
