Who is Dr. Wolz?
Behind the Dr. Wolz brand stands a long-established, family-run company now in its third generation of leadership. The foundation was laid more than 50 years ago by biotechnologist Siegfried Wolz. He worked on the research team of Prof. Feodor Lynen, who was later awarded the Nobel Prize for the discovery of “acetyl CoA.” The research into this key compound for cellular metabolism was conducted on yeast, which is why Siegfried Wolz also carried out further research using yeast. In 1969, he achieved a breakthrough: He developed the Dr. Wolz® enzyme-yeast cells—which remain unique to this day—that serve as “fuel for the cells.” In the same year, he founded Dr. Wolz Zell GmbH in Geisenheim to expand his research activities as well as product development for additional holistic health supplements.
His children, Angela Wenzel-Wolz and Georg Wolz, joined the family business at an early age; after completing his studies in biotechnology, food technology, and medicine, Georg Wolz returned to the company to incorporate his experience and insights into product development and the expansion of the product line.
Dr. Wolz now offers a wide range of supplements for gut health, the immune system, cardiovascular health, as well as for the health of children and athletes in particular. As a gut health specialist, Dr. Wolz produces a wide variety of microbiotic supplements according to the strictest quality criteria and also successfully markets them internationally. To further support the holistic approach, the product line also includes highly bioactive herbal supplements.
And there will be even more innovative supplements from Dr. Wolz in the future. Angela Wenzel’s son David is primarily responsible for this; as a member of the management team, he oversees not only global sales but also product development.

The company is headquartered in Geisenheim—in the heart of the Rheingau region. All products are manufactured, packaged, and shipped from there. We pay close attention not only to selecting particularly high-quality natural raw materials but also to ensuring gentle and environmentally friendly production. The company buildings are heated using geothermal energy, and electricity consumption is covered by the in-house photovoltaic system.
